[Abstract]
Placenta extract containing diverse bioactive substances is used alternative medicine and cosmetics. We reported effect and promotion of ceramide synthase 3 (CerS3) expression in the human of porcine placenta extract (PPE). In this study, we investigated the effect of PPE-derived fractions for CerS3, filaggrin (FLG), kallikrein-5 (KLK5) and kallikrein-7 (KLK7) expression in human-derived epidermal cell HaCat. PPE, heated-treatment PPE and PPE fractions with a less than molecular weight 3000 (<3000 PPE) promoted expression of CerS3, FLG, KLK5 and KLK7 whereas PPE lipophilic fractions only promoted expression of KLK5 and KLK7. The above results suggest that CerS3 and FLG expression promoters are not seen active change by heated-treatment, and present in fractions with a less than molecular weight 3000, and KLK5 and KLK7 expression promoters are also present in lipophilic fractions. In the future, we will examine the identification and extraction method of bioactive substances.
